Plant Smiles 11/21/2011

Happy Monday~

Hope this flower will bring a smile to your face:) I stamped it on watercolor paper and did some quick coloring. I almost forgot how quick and easy and beautiful watercoloring is:)

IMG 1002

I folded the card first and left a little gap along the fold when I run it through my die cut machine. I was too close to the edge but that is ok: just put some tape on the inside;) I used the same biggest die of Spellbinders Nestabilities S4-192 for the card base and the patterned paper layer. Cut along the embossed line of the patterned paper to get a nice border:)

This flower makes me smile:) I used some baby wipe to wipe the ink off the rest of the plant stamp before I stamp. A little tip on storing baby wipes: Cut them into small pieces/stripes and put them in a Ziploc bag:) One bag will last you a very long time 😉

Cardstock: Solar White, Cream (Neenah); Stamps: S5247 Flourish Pine (Hero Arts), Perky Plants, Chit Chat (Paper Smooches), Just a Note (Unity); Inks: Iced Spruce, Evergreen Bough, Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint (Distress Ink), Pear Tart (Memento); Accents: Pearls, Stardust Pen

I added some shine to the dots on the label using a clear stardust pen:) I saw Jennifer using pearls on her cards in Holiday Card Boot Camp and decided to give it a try. I did not plan on how to arrange my flowers: I just put them where my inking was not perfect:)

Happy Weekend! I tried the Tim Holtz Seasonal Distress Inks arrived in the mail today:)

IMG 0919

Stamps: A Little Loving, Santa Paws (Paper Smooches), Just a Note (Unity); Inks: Rich Cocoa (Memento), Iced Spruce (Distress Ink)

The hat is stamped using reverse stamping technique. Iced Spruce is a gray very similar to Memento London Fog.

Stamp: Pretty Phrases (Paper Smooches); Inks: Evergree Bough, Festive Berries (Distress Ink); Others: Embossing folder, watercolor paper and perfect pearl mists.

Evergree Bough is very close to Pine Needles but a little lighter (brighter). In my background I used both Broken China (lighter, bluer) and Evergree Bough. Festive Berries is a more intense color to Memento Lady Bug but a similar brightness.

I learn this “watercolor paper emboss and mists” technique in the Holiday Card Boot Camp by Jennifer McGuire (Online Class). The result is quite beautiful in real life. The sentiment is stamped with water on a piece of card stock covered with distress ink.

Tomorrow, I will try to finish the origami gift box tutorial. Good night~

Favor Box with Fabric Paper 10/17/2011

Made for Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge. The photo inspires me to create a project using fabric and the color: Red.

Printable Box Template: Download Here (My first template, hope you would enjoy it!) Sorry about the wire handle~ My first… It was perfectly straight when I got it…

Stamp: (My Peeps) Paper Smooches, using reverse stamping technique.

Punch: (Heart) Marvy Extra Jumbo

:”) In case you do not read the comments 🙂 Here is how I did the reverse stamping:

I put a busy pattern (or silhouette) clear stamp (in this case, the owl in “My Peeps” set) facing down on an acrylic block and stamp the bird on the smooth back of the stamp (careful, it is slippery), then put a piece of paper onto the image and use my fingers to transfer the ink.  The clear stamp needs to be made with high quality photo-polymer or it would not take the ink well. The finished result could be a little blotchy, I usually use a black marker to go over the lines again. Enjoy~

The good thing about Fabric Paper: slice off the backing paper and stick the sides together! No more gluing! 🙂

HeeHee, I used the little turkey feather in Paper Smooches “My Peeps” to create the three  flowers:)

I wish I had some smaller sentiment but I love every sentiment in “Pretty Phrases” (Paper Smooches)

Stems from “Lunar Lights” (Lawn Fawn), “Rain Drops Background” (Hero Arts)IMG 0752

Stamps used:

Birthday Buddies

Perpetual Bliss

My Peeps

I embossed the feathers then used direct to paper technique for the background, masking the center off.
