Hope this flower will bring a smile to your face:) I stamped it on watercolor paper and did some quick coloring. I almost forgot how quick and easy and beautiful watercoloring is:)

I folded the card first and left a little gap along the fold when I run it through my die cut machine. I was too close to the edge but that is ok: just put some tape on the inside;) I used the same biggest die of Spellbinders Nestabilities S4-192 for the card base and the patterned paper layer. Cut along the embossed line of the patterned paper to get a nice border:)

I was preparing for some blog hop (will share in December) and ended up with this card and tea bag holder (the origami box;)) I saw Jennifer using some narrow strips of paper to add more interest to her cards in the Holiday Card Boot Camp (by Jennifer McGuire, Kristina Werner & Friends). I love the look and used on this card. Some way to use all the scraps I saved:) Kristina has a little twist to it: she uses a scalloped border punch first – the results are adorable!

Color combination from The Play Date Cafe Challenge: Maroon, Copper and Tumeric. Color Challenges force me to use color combos I would have never thought of myself. I like the result on this card!

I stamped the box after folding all the folds so I knew exactly where I want to stamp:) I love white embossing on red!

I added some shine to the dots on the label using a clear stardust pen:) I saw Jennifer using pearls on her cards in Holiday Card Boot Camp and decided to give it a try. I did not plan on how to arrange my flowers: I just put them where my inking was not perfect:)

Basics:

When folding the paper, it is ok to leave a small gap but do not go over the points/lines as the red arrows shown in this tutorial.

If you are new to origami, please practice on some printer paper or scraps first.

Supplies:

[Traditional] A square piece of paper (any size), Pencil, Ruler and Eraser (Skip Step 2)

[Scor-pal] 6″ x 6″ paper, Scor-pal (Start with Step 2)

Optional: Bone Folder, Embellishments, Stamps (as shown in Step 7)

1. [Traditional] Mark on the back of your paper diagonally as shown below:

[Traditional] Fold the four corners to the center as shown: (It is ok to have gaps)

[Traditional] Open up and fold to the cross point as the red arrow shown below. Open up and fold the next corner in.

[Traditional] Remove the pencil marks when you have finished all four corners.

2. [Scor-pal] 6″x6″ Patterned-side up: line up at 4-1/4” and sore at 2-1/8”, 3-1/4”, 5-1/4” and 6-5/8” as shown.

(I marked the 4-1/4” line at the bottom of the scor-pal for an easy line-up).

Turn the paper 90 degrees and score again at 2-1/8”, 3-1/4”, 5-1/4” and 6-5/8”.

Finished fold lines shown as Patterned-side down:

3. Patterned-side down: [Traditional] Valley Fold as shown in orange lines. [Scor-pal] Score at 3” on all sides, stop at the corners of the middle box. Valley Fold.

4. Patterned-side facing you: Valley fold as shown on all sides

5. Fold as shown:

Continue to fold all the corners:

6. Step 5 finished look as shown.

Push the four little triangles as the arrows shown above to their left.

7. Fold the four flaps down as shown

[Traditional] You may have gaps on the flaps.

[Scor-pal] You will have a little overlapping on the flaps. Turn around and cut the little extra paper off.

If you want to stamp, do so before step 8.

8. Fold the flaps back down one by one counter-clockwise.

Tuck the final flap in.

9. Decorate.

The hat is stamped using reverse stamping technique. Iced Spruce is a gray very similar to Memento London Fog.

Stamp: Pretty Phrases (Paper Smooches); Inks: Evergree Bough, Festive Berries (Distress Ink); Others: Embossing folder, watercolor paper and perfect pearl mists.

Evergree Bough is very close to Pine Needles but a little lighter (brighter). In my background I used both Broken China (lighter, bluer) and Evergree Bough. Festive Berries is a more intense color to Memento Lady Bug but a similar brightness.

I learn this “watercolor paper emboss and mists” technique in the Holiday Card Boot Camp by Jennifer McGuire (Online Class). The result is quite beautiful in real life. The sentiment is stamped with water on a piece of card stock covered with distress ink.

How cute would a roll of wash tape be in an origami box? The best part is that it takes only a piece of 6 x 6 paper! No scissors, no glue and no waste! I finally put some use to the pretty patterns that seemed hard to fit into my cards Most washi rolls fit into this box size. Think about all the 6×6 pads you have, anyone?

I tried putting a tutorial together but origami steps are tricky to shoot. Maybe later when I can have hubby to help.

My first Silhouette project to share:) 3D Tree original design: Cartonus (New Year)

Supplies besides paper: Silhouette (or Printer + Scissors + Scoring Tool), Glue

[Optional]: Stamp, Punch, Tooth Pick, Twine

Assembly Steps:

1. (Print and) Cut the template on card stock or patterned paper. Score the score lines if using the printable version.

2. [Optional] Stamp.  Or adhere patterned paper panels to the tree fronts. leaving a 1/16” border on all sides.

3. Fold the fold lines: Valley Fold as the four arrows shown; Others: Mountain Fold.

4. (Stamp the tree before you) Glue both branchy edges together.

5. Put the piece with NO FLAP down first.

6. Then tuck down the piece with big flaps. Keep the two small flaps out as shown.

7. Tuck the small flaps in.

8. [Optional] make the star top. I punched two stars from scrap and glued a tooth pick in between them.

9. Ooh la la~ A super cute Christmas Tree. The tooth pick fits right in!

10. Decorate however way you want! Remember: if you want to stamp on the tree, do it before Step 4.
